I've never owned a webcam before this one, so I've really nothing else to which to compare it. All I can say is that it's very easy to install and works like a charm. The image and sound are both clear and crisp and the self-adjusting lens (or whatever the technical name for it is) works like a marvel. The only problem I encountered was certain programs that boot up with the OS (like Google Talk) "hijacking" (so to speak) the microphone. This is very easy to remedy.
